My Project

I am a first year teacher trying to best support my students and encourage their learning. I graduated from college in May, so I do not have the funds or resources to stock a classroom with everything my students need to succeed or allow me to be an effective educator. The majority of my students come from low income homes, so many of them do not have necessary school supplies or learning materials and need them from me. My students also do not have access to many books at home so my students frequently ask to borrow books from me. I will use the materials in this list to decorate my classroom in a way that is welcoming and useful to students. My students voiced how they felt much more comfortable in my classroom once I got certain materials and decorations, so what I asked for on this project will help make them feel comfortable in their learning environment. My request also includes tools to help me be an effective educator. A teacher podium and clicker will allow me to be up from my desk during instruction and be more present in the classroom. An air purifier will hopefully help with illness as me and my students have already been getting sick even this early into the year. Other materials like stickers, candy, or fun school supplies will be used to incentivize students going above and beyond academically and in their interactions to peers. This list will greatly help me stock a welcoming classroom that meets my students needs. Students will have the resources to succeed and achieve great things while also being rewarded for putting in hard work.
