Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This is a great group of inspiring students who work really hard to achieve their dreams. My classroom is a Special Education classroom so, all of my students have academic needs that we build our classroom around. These students range from 9-14 years old and they are all incredibly hard workers! They come to school every day with their own challenges and they work really hard to master their goals and overcome their challenges.

My students are creative, inquisitive and joyful.

Out school is a neighborhood school in the Philadelphia region so, our school is an extension of the community. My students inspire me to be the best teacher in order to encourage their learning. We focus on math and reading at their instructional levels in the classroom and build lessons specifically around what they need. It is the biggest joy to be able to teach such a talented and determined group of students this year and I can't wait to watch them progress!

My Project

These students love to have a place to spread out and relax while completing independent work in the classroom. We recently had to get rid of our old carpet and my students are in need of a new space. They spend a lot of time doing independent work including, reading.

I want to give these hard-working students space to themselves where they can feel comfortable, welcomed and engaged.

A carpet will build their focus and bring excitement for each day in the classroom! We will also use it for small group work and for collaborative games. Thank you so much for your support and your generosity.
