This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students have big dreams. We need to provide the right resources for our students to become successful students and eventually successful professionals. Dr. Seuss says it best "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
Our classroom is an integrated co-teaching classroom where there are two teachers.
This allows for more support of the students. Our students are 2nd grades in an inner city public school. Most students are living below the poverty line. Eight students are Special Education students with learning disabilities and speech impairments. Many of their parents do not speak English so students receive little help at home. We as teachers take pride in, and responsibility for creating an environment where our students can perform at their highest level, as well as promote a positive attitude and ambition to do so.
My Project
Students enjoy "book shopping" from our class library for books to read during independent reading time and at home. However, many of our class books are old and torn apart. With our new resources, students will be excited to read new and interesting books!
Your donation will help our students discover books that interest them and captivate their imaginations.
Learning to enjoy reading will help our students become lifelong learners!!

Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
