My students are incoming 10th- and 11th-grade scholars who are preparing for college applications and success in the workforce. They are building foundations in their ELA education that will not only last a lifetime, but will grow into tangible skills that will help them succeed.
In my classroom, we are focused on holding ourselves accountable to meet high academic and personal expectations.
We are focused on growth as scholars, as individuals, and as a community by building integrity, empathy, and curiosity.
For many children, back-to-school shopping and material preparation is expected, but in a school where nearly 100% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch, that expectation may be insurmountable for students and their families. But, that does not mean that an equitable education is inaccessible.
These materials will enable students to take advantage of the quality education that they deserve.
Personal composition notebooks for creativity and reflection. Folders to hold and protect their work. Chart paper and Post-Its that allow for collaborative projects. Highlighters and markers to aid in an annotation. Simple materials that can make a huge academic impact.
