Help me give my students adaptable scissors to help with their independence, texture specific items to help with their sensory needs, and math and reading activities to help them show what they know!
I work at a school for students with intellectual disabilities. We have students in kindergarten all the way to transition age of 21. We work hard to prepare our students for life at school, at home, and in the community.
I have five third grade students with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory challenges.
They have many different interests and sensory preferences. Instruction in my classroom looks different for each student in order to meet their needs to to help them be successful.
My Project
These items will give my students an opportunity to be independent in areas that can typically be difficult for them to do on their own. Giving them new ways to show what they know will allow them to flourish academically and socially.
With your help, I will be able to create a more inclusive learning environment for my students.
The materials I ordered are ones that will encourage students to take risks without fear of failure, give them confidence to try new things, and allow them to step outside their comfort zone. Every student deserves proper materials to enhance their education and through this project my students would have just that.
