Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Being at a Title I school, many of the students in my class do not have access to traditional and necessary school supplies, including folders, composition notebooks, scissors, and more.

This project will help those students receive the materials they desperately need to be successful and to keep track of their work.

Since third grade is the beginning of the SOLs for the students in FCPS, being able to keep track of their work is pertinent in their studying journey. Each student needs a science journal, a math folder, and a social studies folder. They have school-provided materials for writing and reading, but they were left to themselves to provide materials for other subjects. This project is aimed at making the classroom as equitable as possible so that each and every student has the necessary materials to be successful during this incredibly important year of their academic journey. Finally, many of the students in this class absolutely love to read, but they do not have access to a lot of grade-level books. The teachers and staff at my school have been incredibly supportive in providing books for my classroom library, and the two book series in this project are aimed at the students who are reading at a higher level and are looking for more chapter books to further their learning.
