My Project
One of the most important parts of a classroom, is a safe environment. At this time, I have Chromebooks stacked in an unsafe matter. Storage is in short supply. Some classrooms have a Chromebook cart, but not all. I need to Turn a cubby into a safe place to store Chromebooks that is up to fire code... and to do that I need a large capacity power strips, and wheels in order to lift the cubby to allow for cord storage.
In addition to providing a safe environment, I pride my self on creating a mindful classroom.
Some items that would help students calm down and destress include kinetic sand, mindful activities, and storage bins to keep the area clean. Additional items include personal hygiene to help students in need.
These students have really shown their resilience during the pandemic. They continue to thrive and take ownership in their learning and emotions. We practice these skills daily. The use of sensory items will help students continue to process these big emotions they have in the calm corner. During COVID, schools have increased funding for electronics, however not all schools have a storage place for the increase of devices. These items will really help my students return to school as they know it in a post COVID world.
