My Project
We are seeking funding to create a calming corner—a dedicated space in our classroom where students can deescalate, calm emotions and develop self-regulation skills.
Many students experience stress, overstimulation, anxiety, or frustration that impacts their learning and behavior. There is a large impact of supporting students’ social-emotional needs to improve engagement and academic outcomes. Our classroom currently lacks a space or resources for students to practice self-regulation consistently.
Funds will be used to establish a calming corner equipped with sensory tools, visual supports (feelings charts, breathing exercise posters), and comfortable sensory-regulating seating. This area will provide students with a safe place to calm down, reflect, and return ready to learn.
