This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Title-I students are thoughtful, hard working, positive learners who often do not gain access to literature in their every day lives.
With a class of 33 students many who classify as English Language Learners, my goal is to immerse them with exciting literature they cannot wait to read!
Each day, our schedule includes a four hour block dedicated to language and learning. During the independent reading time I want students to explore reading comprehension through books they have never read before. To be able to collaborate with peers who are reading the same book and bond over their thoughts on events and characters.
My Project
Many of the students in my class are English Language Learners who often only access books at school. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently for a book study. They will be able to choose books that interest them. These books will cultivate a classroom of learners who love to read. Students can take the time to read the books for more than just a one week check out from the school library. The books selected are titles many students are excited to read such as: Because of Winn Dixie, Wonder, Holes, and more.
