My Students

My students are special because they are going on an amazing journey with me -- this year we are opening a brand new elementary school! This means that on top of all the cool new things they learn in 4th grade, they're also learning how to function and succeed in a school that is still finding its footing.

So many of my students haven't been in a "normal" classroom since kindergarten due to the pandemic, but they try every day to do their best and they LOVE learning.

I want to give them everything I can to help them reach their goals and make them feel comfortable as they are back in the classroom, and I know they want the same for me and their peers.

Sometimes I am in awe of the incredible acts of kindness I see from these tiny, tremendous humans; in just seven short weeks I've seen their kindness and curiosity flourish, and I am so excited to spend this year with them.

My Project

Being in a classroom where every single student has their own laptop is such an amazing learning gift. But nothing slows a student down like opening a laptop to see a dead battery logo and having to find somewhere to plug their computer in before they can start to work.

With fully-charged laptops available daily, my students will be able to focus on instruction and standards instead of dead batteries.

For example, students would be able to work toward success in ELA.W.4.6 by using technology to produce and publish writing, collaborate with others, and show command of keyboarding skills! Because our laptops are used across all content areas, students would also be able to work on projects and standards in science, such as 4-LS1-2 and use a model to describe that animals receive different types of information through their senses. The possibilities of learning are endless with fully charged laptops. Additionally, students will be able to collaborate with each other through Microsoft Teams while maintaining social distancing for COVID, and even collaborate during times when we must work at home.

Instead of spending precious instructional time fighting with chargers and worrying where laptops are stored, the charging cart would mean that everyone is always ready to go, whether its taking the device home or using it in class. They would also be safely locked up every night, meaning all our technology is safe and ready to be used every single day!
