My Students
I am excited to begin this new journey as a 5th-grade classroom teacher! I will be teaching reading, writing, and social studies! My students live in a rural community. We are a small school with students who have a love for learning. They are excited about books and love to read! We are a classroom built around a sense of community, kindness, and eagerness to learn new things! Many students do not have access to books at home so a classroom library is so important to have!
My Project
I am new to 5th grade this year. I have very limited resources at my school to purchase books for a classroom library. Having taught 2nd and 3rd grade for the last 19 years, I have many lower-level books for my struggling readers but will need on level books for 5th graders. I am looking to develop a classroom library that will have students engaged and put many different types of books in their hands to continue a love of reading! I want to create a print-rich environment with lots of books!! They will be used in the classroom as well as at home!
