This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I will be looping or moving up with my 4th graders from the 2017-2018 school year to 5th grade in the 2018-2019 school year. They are awesome, funny, and smart kids and I am very proud to be their teacher. My students love to read; they read all the time. They developed a love for Harry Potter in 4th grade so I thought a great book to read with them is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to go along with our Harry Potter classroom theme during the 2018-2019 5th grade school year.
My Project
Reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will be a very enjoyable and engaging unit for my students this fall. Students will each have their own copy of the book so that they are able to read along during the whole group as well as be able to read assigned chapters independently. While reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, students will expand their vocabulary and increase their reading comprehension. With these books, students will be able to complete many Language Arts activities based on the chapters in the book including problem and solution, cause and effect, inferencing, main idea, and supporting details.
