My students have been adversely affected throughout the pandemic due to their disadvantaged Special Needs status. Most of them have diagnosed cognitive and specific learning disorders and were often left on their own at home during distance learning or continuing exclusion periods. Unfortunately, these students had no capability to utilize Zoom and Microsoft Teams conferencing to stay in touch with class for instruction due to lack of resources or training. I would like to help foster a return to the 'new normalcy' for them as we ease out of the pandemic and part of that is to help them become more technologically savvy just as the rest of the country has during adaptations to pandemic work life!

I would like to foster further technology instruction in my classroom by purchasing laptops for students to share so we can keep up with 21st century learning demands.
Along with technology needs, I would like to purchase flexible seating for our classroom's quiet area. This is a place for my students to relax or to cool down when they are feeling frustrated.
My Project
By purchasing these Chromebooks for my classroom my students will have the ability to participate in whole group lessons in technology. Also, by purchasing flexible seating for my classroom's quiet area my students will feel more comfortable for moments when they need to work on self regulating.
Currently, our classroom has 4 desktops and two iPads.
With 9 students, I am unable to have all the students on a device at a time. I plan to let students take turns going between Chromebooks, desktops and iPads until we have enough desktops or Chromebooks for all.
The use of technology is part of the 21st century best practices. My students will benefit by having Chromebooks for utilizing the Unique Learning System for online lessons along with other web based educational programs.
