Help me give my students an opportunity to build their vocabulary, spelling, social and collaborative skills while having fun while playing Scrabble with their classmates.
My students are a mixed population of English learners, resource, and advanced abilities. They come to me from all socioeconomic levels.
They are inquisitive, positive, and have a strong desire to learn.
They are kind to one another, and they strive to help each other. When they struggle, they collaborate with one another, and together they make our team stronger.
Because of their willingness to learn and work cooperatively, they make my job fun and rewarding. Getting funded for this project is so important because the students deserve to have the resources they need to be successful.
My Project
I plan to have my English students play the world famous, Scrabble Board Game, in teams of four, once a week to build their vocabulary, spelling, social and collaborative skills. The entire class will play in a Scrabble Learning Lab, where students will take out their Scrabble boards and play Scrabble for 45 minutes to an hour once a week.
I need twelve Scrabble boards and twelve Scrabble dictionaries so that I can divide students into teams of four for this learning adventure!
The board games will also be available for students during brunch and lunch as a rainy day activity as well.
