Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As the School Social Worker, this project has the potential to reach over 500 students at Mendenhall Elementary! Supplies will be used to disperse to students in need such as kids who are homeless, in foster care, or have experienced financial hardship. Projects throughout the year focus on academic achievement, strong school attendance, and caring for the social and emotional needs of our students.
My school is a Title I school with over 91% on Free/Reduced Lunch, nearly 40% are English Language Learners, and over 16% comprised of Students with Disabilities.
When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it's our job to share our calm, not join their chaos. - L.R. Knost
My Project
Supplies from this project will go towards meeting the needs of low-income students who lack basic school supplies or resources to obtain supplies. This includes children who are homeless, children in foster care, and those experiencing financial hardship.
Teacher supplies will be used for day to day learning in the classroom and school wide bulletin boards.
Books will be used during school-based counseling sessions when students need the extra encouragement and support through the challenges they face at home or in school. Thank you for your commitment to seeing our students thrive in our community.
