This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

While we expect every middle-school aged student to be able to read, we unfortunately know, that is not the truth.

According to the United States Department of Education National Report Card 66% of students in the United States are not reading at a proficient level.

I'm looking to start a NEW weekly book club with 20 sixth-grade students at our school! Starting this book club will not only allow students to improve their reading and writing skills but will also allow them to create tighter bonds with one another in an after-school setting; that they will hopefully be able to continue to develop throughout the rest of their time in middle school together.

With the help of generous donors, I'm hoping to bring this awesome initiative in our school with our amazing students!
