My students need math games and manipulatives to help with hands on learning. My first graders need a variety of writing and comprehension to extend on their learning.

My Students

My first grade classroom has a huge range of learners. Students read between 7 - 190 words a minute. The biggest challenge is reaching all their needs. My goal is for all students to end the year having reached their highest potentially. Success is measured individually.

My classroom has 24 first graders.

We are a Title 1 school and most of my students receive free or reduced lunch. We have around 500 students, grades Kindergarten - 6th grade. Most families struggle to find time or have the resources at home to provide extra support ~ So I must reach all my students within the school day and provide them with a variety of materials and books. First graders are very active learners so I build my classroom around an active learning environment.

My Project

The reading materials will be used within my Reading Stations. The students are grouped by reading needs/levels, so each station has materials that are specific to them. I also choose materials, such as questions cards, to provide opportunities for students to work effectively in a group. The math materials help give the students skill practice through games. Games and activities help increase their learning ability. The materials such as markers, are something we use daily. The minute timers will be very helpful during reading fluency and flash cards.

These materials, books, and games will provide huge learning opportunities for my students.

These materials will offer a wide range of variety with the different levels, non fiction materials, exciting games. It's important that my students are comfortable with their learning, can work in small groups, learn to lead and take charge of their learning. New, fresh, and fun materials can make a huge difference for these kids.
