Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Art has always been a crucial and indispensable component of a student’s education. By immersing themselves in the arts, students not only enhance their understanding of other academic subjects but also find a remarkable avenue for personal development. My aspiration is to cultivate a classroom environment that fosters growth and encourages exploration through artistic expression.
Throughout the year, my students will have the opportunity to delve into the rich history of art, dance, drama, and music.
They will engage in hands-on projects and conduct research to gain a deeper understanding of these subjects. For instance, they will get to create cave drawings, allowing them to explore the world of Prehistoric art. In addition, they will have the chance to create Gothic windows, enabling them to delve into the architecture of the Gothic era.
Furthermore, the students will also be introduced to the history and development of music in our society as they learn to play the piano. This practical approach will enhance their understanding of this art form. Additionally, the students will be tasked with designing sets for theatrical productions, giving them a taste of the visual aspects of drama.
To further their exploration of visual art, students will maintain a year-long sketchbook. This will provide them with the opportunity to engage in artistic expression and document their creative journey. Through these various activities, my students will have a well-rounded and immersive experience in the world of art, dance, drama, and music.
However, these grand ideas come at a price. Our school is located in a small community with an even smaller budget. However, this does not diminish the fact that these students deserve the best art education that I can provide. The materials listed will allow me the opportunity to do just that.
