Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
UMS is full of hardworking, passionate students. However, not all students have access to technology and tools that can help further their learning. It is our hope that through our projects we will be able to bring more resources to UMS that will help our students flourish.
Our school, and our students overcome constant obstacles just to be at school.
UMS is a Title I school, this means that a high number of my students live in poverty. Currently, 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch due to the poverty level and devastation from hurricane Matthew.
My Project
It is important for students to have comfortable, and safe learning environments. Flexible seating, with the rug and bean bags, will help create this environment for our exceptional children. By allowing students to work in a space that is best for them our students will take ownership over the space as well as the work.
Student choice is necessary to creating engaged learning especially for students that need to have a learning environment that is as diverse as they are.
Our hope is that by providing our students with a new learning space they will continue to grow in their academics as well as their ownership over their education.
