I need to join GYTO University for an in-depth two-day workshop filled with instructional strategies and research-based practices that will transform my K students into successful readers and writers.

My Students

My school is a Title 1 school where many students utilize our free lunch, food pantry, and backpack program (an extension of our food pantry to take food home for the weekend).

My students come from hard-working families that want to be highly involved in their learning.

Students at my school learn online Monday-Wednesday each week with their parents and learn face-to-face Thursdays and Fridays. Each week I provide online instruction for their at-home days and do all I can to maximize my face-to-face time with them!

My Project

GYTO University will equip me with the knowledge and tools I need to build proficient readers and writers. I have already been using some of the main presenters' practices and resources in my classroom and I feel that this trip will help refine my instruction and help me provide more purpose and rigor in my writing and reading instruction. I particularly like their approach because it also focuses on joy and is developmentally appropriate for kinders.

It will also be wonderfully inspiring to be surrounded by like-minded, motivated educators with a passion for kinder.

Of course I also want to go because I LOVE teaching reading and writing.
