My Students

While I cannot attest to the students I will have this upcoming school year, I can discuss what I love about my students in the past years. I have taught students in 5th grade and 1st grade. While that is a huge age gap, there is always one thing I love the most about my kiddos!

I love their love for learning!

They enjoy various activities that keep their brains activated throughout the day and leave wanting to know more! I try to engage them in different learning styles and settings to meet their individual needs and that is truly where they shine the most. Each year I am welcomed with new smiling faces and I am truly honored to be a part of an integral section of their lives.

My Project

This past year I have delved deep into flexible seating and I definitely do not want to go back! I have found that my kiddos are a lot more engaged in their learning when they have the choice to sit comfortably.

When I look around and see children working hard, sprawled out across the floor, sitting on the couch, working at a table, or wiggling on a different seat, my teacher heart truly gleams!

The excitement of being able to sit how they want to sit helps them find comfort when having to do work and I have found that they are far more productive! Sitting at desks and chairs is complicated for an adult, let alone a 6-7 year old! They truly work their hardest when they are comfortable! They are responsible for their learning and making these types of choices is HUGE for them!

What I’m hoping to add to the classroom is 4 exercise balls with legs so they don’t roll away when not in use. Kiddos love the exercise balls and they’ll be used as an additional seat option in the classroom. Another are 2 wiggle stools! These will be new to the classroom, but will be a welcomed addition! They will also be an additional seat option that provides a choice where they can wiggle, but work hard!

Please help my future students and I add more options to our flexible seated classroom! I already "wiggle" with excitement to share these items with them!
