My Project

My name is Mrs Canipe. I work in a third grade classroom in a rural Title 1 elementary school in the mountains of western North Carolina. Our community was hit hard by Hurricane Helene. We are excited about the prospect of a normal school year this year!

My third grade classroom is hoping you will choose to invest in our bone detective project.

Students will learn about the human skeletal system and the roles our skeletons play in supporting our bodies. They will then translate their knowledge into a hands-on experience by dissecting owl pellets and attempting to investigate what the owl's last meal was based on the skeletal remains. By providing the tools to support this project, you will be helping to bring more STEAM activities into our rural community. I know my third graders will be so excited to be bone detectives! Thank you so much for your consideration in this project.
