My Students

My classroom is currently the only fully inclusive Early Childhood Classroom in my county. What is so unique about my room? Well, I act as both the general education teacher and the IEP case manager and service provider for my students with special needs. Our school is located in a rural community with many of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Being a member of this rural community myself, I know the impact my classroom can make for each of my students, special needs to not!

My Project

My students are just beginning their educational journey. They are excited about coming to school each day and eager to have new experiences. I want to be able to provide as many authentic learning experiences as possible to foster a love of learning. What better way to engage children than through play?

Play is the work of a child, and the Pretend & Learn Center I imagine will be one that allows children to explore real life experiences role playing and social interactions with peers and teachers alike!

By utilizing the standards outlined in the Frog Street Curriculum, my Dramatic Play Area will be transformed into Pretend & Learn Center! With the various materials to be provided through this fundraiser, students will be provided the opportunity experience various areas of development such as, social-emotional, language and communication, self-expression, early literacy, and math through an exploration of their imagination and social role playing.
