My students need unifix cubes, craft supplies, and plastic bins to help me create a hands-on approach to teaching STEM through inquiry. They will go directly into STEM Bins. The books will grow my tiny library.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a rural school, we are limited in the amount of funding we receive each year. I will have 24 students from mixed backgrounds. They will have differentiated needs and learning styles.
When I moved to Piedmont, I left behind a lot of necessary items that a classroom needs including manipulatives, books that range over a variety of interests, and other necessary items.
I believe that all students should have their needs met in any classroom setting. I love to encourage skill building through hands-on games and collaboration. I also want children to become independent readers by encouraging them to pick books that fit their wants.
Any donation I receive will go right back into the hands of my students through the use of STEM Bins, math games and other projects. Books will also help grow my classroom library and grow a love for reading in each student.
My Project
The books are a definite need for my classroom. I have slowly been able to purchase books with my own money to add some high-interest books to my library. However, after becoming a mom, I am no longer able to do that. I feel that having a wide-variety of grade level options will increase my students' love for reading.
Science is very important to me.
The craft supplies (playdough, popsicle sticks, dots, plastic bins, etc.) will go together to help me create STEM Bins. The idea for these bins came from a Science teacher in Oklahoma. With these bins, I can encourage students to grow through hands-on exploration and inquiry. My district has very little funding for curriculum in Science and I feel this will help grow my limited resources for this subject.
The dice, counters, and other math manipulatives are going to grow my resources for Math. I am a teacher that LOVES to encourage skill building through collaboration and games. These items will help provide the pieces to make my Math centers and skill building for efficient and fun.
