My Students

I teach 3rd grade in a fast-growing suburb of Salt Lake City. We are a traditional school. Our students are from a wide variety of economic backgrounds. We have single-family homes, townhomes, and apartments in our boundaries. It is a high-density housing area in the fast-growing city of Herriman.

My class is ready and eager to learn.

We have a very wide range in ability levels, but all students are progressing and excited about school. We are off to a great start.

We have many services and programs in place to help the students be successful, but specific resources for individual student needs/levels are sometimes hard to come by.

My Project

Students in third grade are on many different reading levels and need many and varied materials within their own reading levels.

My students must be able to have reading materials within their own levels to find success in reading which leads to growth.

Struggling readers often have trouble finding a book within their reading level.

Students who have reading materials within their own level find reading fun and begin to read more for enjoyment! Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is a perfect way to build better readers. Leveled readers are a gateway to better reading skills for reluctant readers. My students will love getting their hands on more books within their own level.
