Ms. Anastasi from East Chicago IN is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a binder to keep their important materials in.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students come from low income households. Many have a single parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle, or even foster parent that take care of them. Each year I go and buy classroom supplies for my students because almost all of my students start the school off with no school supplies. I try to buy enough scissors, glue, crayons, folders, notebook, etc to last the entire school year.
Many parents in the area I teach in don't believe their children's education is important.
This saddens me because education is the key to our future. I believe if my students have the tools they need to be successful with their education in my classroom, they will realize how important school is and want to do well in school.
I would like to get each child a classroom binder. Folders rip, fall apart, seem to get lost, so I would like to get each child a binder. This way we can keep important papers, classroom work, notes in their binder.
Unfortunately binders are not cheaper like folders, so I am looking for help to supplement the cost of the binders.
I have chosen binders from School Specialty because as a teacher we use this company to order our classroom supplies from. They seem to have the best deals on classroom items. Their items are good quality and can hold up to everyday use.
Using a binder will help teach my students how to stay organized.
Coming from hectic households, many of my students have not learned how to be organize so they lose many of their classroom papers. If each student has a binder, we can all put them in our binders together. With binders having a hard cover, I can use these year after year.
