Help me give my students a better in-class reading experience. Many of my students benefit from reading an isolated, more calming location in the room. The lamps and the bean-bags and the sturdy shelving help me accomplish this.

My Project

This project is dedicated to the practice of daily reading. Our brains are like muscles--and they need to be worked out regularly to get what we want out of them. Asking students to click them on and then write a few essays is like asking Don Quixote to do something the right way--it's not realistic. Carving some time out everyday in order for students to have the opportunity to read recreationally, I believe, is an essential strategy to get that reading muscle worked out regularly.

This is a project that is ongoing for me.

Unfortunately, I lack the carpentry skills to build a safe bookshelf and I currently lack the financial resources to buy a few bean-bags for the classroom. Help this first-year teacher out! Thank you!
