Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diverse as the candy SKITTLES. We may differ in culture, ethnicity, religion, academic, social and language abilities we all share the same passion for the desire to learn and to succeed.

We are a class full of students.

We may all be from different backgrounds with different abilities but we really are all the same. We all have the same goal. We all want to learn and be the best we can be. We all want to make our family proud. We all want to please. We all believe that we can and we will.

This is my class. A class full of passion, with intellect, with motivation and humor. It is my job to support their belief and make it their reality. I believe in them for I see the potential of OUR tomorrow.

My Project

We are in an inner city with many diverse needs. The key to successful learning are effective teaching strategies, engaging lessons, patience and enjoying and appreciating your students and their young minds. Today's students need a variety of strategies to support their learning. It is the combination of instruction and skill application that will support success. Learning is no longer just from teacher to student. Learning comes in many forms and its my job to reach my learner so that skills can be applied in various experiences.

Technology is the norm.

It does not replace the teacher. It is an effective tool to engage the student as they learn. The software programs will support written and oral language acquisition for English Language learners as well as my students with special needs. It will support their technology skills while engaging them in effective lessons.

The STEM and reading activities will provide the students with a multitude of opportunities to apply their knowledge in all content areas. Science, Technology, Engineering (as well as art design) and Mathematics are all directly related with each project. Writing and Reader's theater is utilized within the STEM activities to promote written language and public speaking skills.
