My Project
This project aims to transform our classroom into a welcoming and inspiring space that fosters creativity and focus for my 12th graders. By integrating a class set of, "When I Was the Greatest" lamps, cozy lighting will replace the harsh overhead lights, creating a soothing atmosphere that promotes concentration and comfort. These lamps will serve as a unique thematic element, connecting students to the literature they are studying, making the room not just a place to learn but a space to immerse themselves in stories and ideas.
Adding plants to the classroom will further enhance the environment, making it feel more homey and inviting.
Research shows that plants can reduce stress and increase productivity, helping students feel more relaxed and ready to engage in learning. Essential oils will be diffused to improve the smell of the room, providing a subtle and calming scent that can help students focus and reduce anxiety.
Lastly, charging ports will be installed, allowing students to charge their phones during class. By addressing their needs in a practical way, this feature will reduce distractions and empower them to stay engaged in lessons without worrying about their devices.
My goal for this project is to create a learning environment that feels like a second home to my students, making them feel valued and cared for. These 8th graders are special—they are curious, creative, and eager to learn, and they deserve a classroom that reflects and nurtures their potential. This project will help create that space, where learning can truly flourish.
