My Project
This STEM lab is designed for elementary-aged students and will serve as a hub for Project-Based and Problem-Based Learning.
Students will engage in activities ranging from solving simple problems to addressing more complex challenges, fostering creativity and critical thinking.
The “Makey-Makey” kits will introduce coding in an engaging way, allowing students to apply their knowledge to program devices that display images, execute coded tasks, create custom controllers using various materials, and even design musical instruments using unconventional items like fruit. The Unirolic Building blocks will support younger students (grades 1–3) in constructing pre-designed figures, providing a hands-on approach to spatial reasoning and design principles.
The “Tinker-Lab” kits are a standout feature. These kits enable students to design, build, and code robots for tasks such as drawing simple shapes or picking up objects. During a summer program in collaboration with Verizon at Morehouse, I used these kits successfully to help students develop hands-on skills in prototyping, experimenting with engineering concepts, and fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
Finally, the shelving units will be adaptable to meet storage needs, ensuring an organized and efficient workspace for all STEM activities.
