This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This will be my second year of teaching middle school science once this school year is over. I have been learning about different ways to get the students to interact with me more than they have with past teachers.
I believe that integrating modern technology like the iPad, it would help the students see a more visual aspect of what science is.
For example, my favorite curriculum to teach is Earth's Place in the Universe. There are several apps that the iPad offers that the students can view the universe and its planets alike, Solar Walk 2 and Star Walk. The inflatable solar system will allow me to go outside and show distances between the planets modeling their sizes and orbit. I enjoy TPT a lot since it helps me find some resources or even assignments for Units that we work on. This helps me build my curriculum so they can feel more confident about the material and testing scores.
The Chemistry Model and Electricity and Magnetism kits are some of the more troublesome areas from what I have experienced teaching so far, having some on-hand interactive materials to demo for them might help these concepts click. DNA is such an interesting unit but also can be extremely boring so having a fun game related to mutations (which is a part of our curriculum) can help them understand what mutations are and how they can either harm, benefit, or even not affect the organism. Lastly, Forces and Motion is always a fun unit to begin with but I need more interactive ways to get them to understand the
