This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We work with diverse students from every background imaginable. These include first generation Americans, families who have spent their whole lives in the local community, newer families coming to the area for work, and students with a wide array of perspectives.
I work in a school rich in cultural diversity and perspectives that need to be shared with the world.
These students have all of the tools and support needed to be successful in tomorrow's world. They are constantly exploring and sharing their learning with me. I find most of my successful teaching ideas are inspired by my students.
My Project
We are looking to get donations for a Chromebook to add to our shared class tools. Most students bring their own devices, but sometimes they are damaged or aren't working properly when we have work to complete. This can lead to lengthy slow downs in productivity for students when we have to utilize our grade level laptop cart (which has laptops older than the kids).
Donating to our class for a Chromebook will help to take advantage of our most precious resource, time.
Having a new and more efficient device for students to use when they had a crazy morning and forgot their charger at home is huge! It relieves student stress (which is too much for these 11-12 year old kids) and helps increase time on task getting assignments or reading done.
