My Students

I currently teach a Special Ed Life Skills classroom. Many of my students have various Intellectual Disabilities. They struggle with various sensory/academic issues. Most students struggle to find a balance to calm and regulate their needs and emotional well beings.

My Project

With the students that I teach, this will allow them the freedom to choose what sensory experiences or fidget items to use during classroom time. When students need a sensory timeout from learning, which happens a lot, this project would let them choose. Variety is key. This is why I want different items to use. Covid 19 has made my students very anxious. In my classroom, we are seeing a ‘roller coaster’ effect of ups and downs with so many obstacles my students are facing at home and at school.
