As a special education teacher, my students struggle to sit at their desks and remain focused for long periods of time. My seventh and eight graders are very active and need an environment where they can actively engage in learning, while also having their need for movement honored.
My classroom consists of middle school students with diverse learning needs.
Many of my students are very active and struggle with staying seated and focused. My students need a physical outlet for this energy while they read, write, complete math problems, and work independently. Having Hokki stools in the classroom will allow my students to move while sitting still....which is just what my energetic students need!!
My Project
I see my students using the Hokki stools all around the classroom. They will be able to move them around the room to various learning spaces and select seating that best suits their needs. I will be able to have differentiated learning spaces and more options for seating.
These stools will help serve the various needs of my students.
My students natural need to move can be supported and they will be able to move while they learn! I will also be able to start transforming my classroom into one that can better suit my special education student's diverse learning needs.
