My kids love the books. Reading nonfiction books is a big part of my instruction. My students are naturally curious and using quality nonfiction books helps to keep that curiosity alive. Most importantly I use them to build students' background knowledge of Science and Social Studies concepts. This background knowledge is an important indicator of future success. These books you helped me to get will also build their understanding of our Science standards. I will read them aloud, use them to analyze nonfiction features and kids will research from them. They will ask questions and wonder after reading theses books. They will then follow their curiosities by researching and conducting investigations into their questions, using these books. Finally they will share their new learning with each other by designing, writing and drawing investigation pages.
