Moving to Learn

My students need to be able to move. The majority of my students perform better when they do not sit in regular desks and work. I am not fan of staying in your seat.

My Students

Our school is a spectacular Title I school where every student receives free lunch and breakfast. It is made up of predominantly African-American and Hispanic students.

The majority of the students come from poverty stricken and low-income homes which they don't allow to deter them from striving for excellence.

However, this does not stop or students for wanting to learn and succeed. It does put a limit on the amount of resources we are able to deliver to our students.

My Project

Students are not all the same so why should they be required to stay at the same desks. I want my students to be able to select the seating of their choice that they feel will be the most successful. If students can help take stock in their own learning they are more likely to want to be successful.

Flexible seating encourages good behavior, better health and academic growth. This is a step in following Dr. Seuss and his wonderful words of wisdom. If a desk and a chair possibly hold a student back from success the not allowing them flexible seating is letting them slip through the cracks.
