I teach 32 inquisitive second graders who are eager to learn and share with one another. From day one we work on building a family atmosphere where each child knows they are a valued classmate and that everyone has something to offer.
As a culturally diverse classroom, we all come different backgrounds and have so much to offer to our classroom community.
We begin each day with our morning meeting where the children answer and discuss any number of various questions/topics with their partners. This is an excellent way to start off our day and everyone has had the chance to share something with their partner. Throughout the day we keep it active! We work in table groups, literature circles, partner work, and small group instruction as well. We are on the move and always working together aiming to be the best we can be!
My Project
Keeping my students moving and engaged is always my goal! All throughout the day we are transitioning into different learning settings, providing them the opportunity to work and learn from their classmates and continue to build the family community.
When the students have the chance to work in different settings, whether it is small groups, partners, or independently, they are offered the opportunity to excel and learn from each other.
The clipboards will provide them a chance to travel around the room as they complete various tasks with their partners. The wobble cushions and wiggle bands will help with the extra energy while they work at their desks. The floor cushions will provide a comfortable spot on the floor for literature circles and more!
I am looking forward to watching my kids travel though the year actively engaged!
