My Project
I am excited to launch a student-led, sports-themed Wellness Day, that will energize our entire school community! This initiative is being designed and implemented by our students, who are stepping into leadership roles to promote physical and emotional wellness for their peers and staff.
Our students are leading every aspect of this initiative, from brainstorming the event layout, designing flyers, coordinating the schedule, and creating wellness stations, to serving as ambassadors on the day of the event.
They are taking ownership of activities such as organizing yoga and mindfulness sessions, setting up hydration and healthy snack tables, and facilitating friendly sports challenges to promote teamwork and movement. Their goal is to encourage participation, create school spirit, and ensure that everyone feels included and uplifted.
This event goes far beyond benefiting our classroom. Students are actively working to serve the entire school community, including their peers across all grade levels, school staff, and even families who will be invited to attend. They are using their voice and creativity to address stress, inactivity, and disconnection that many students experience, especially in under-resourced urban schools. Through this initiative, students are learning how to take action for the greater good, developing leadership, collaboration, and project management skills along the way.
Together, we can empower students to be change-makers, leading their peers in creating a healthier, more connected school environment.
