This year, I am moving from 2nd grade to Kindergarten and I am so excited! A lot of what I have learned as a 2nd grade teacher has molded my plans for my Kindergarten classroom.
I want my classroom to be a place where my students develop the skills necessary to be successful in school.
Because this will be the first school experience for many of my students, I want to help set them up for success throughout their entire school career. My students will have many opportunities to take risks, problem solve, and develop skills to make wise choices.
My Project
For five and six year olds, sitting still can be difficult! Flexible seating will allow my students to learn how their body needs to adjust in order to stay still. With the kick bands, stability balls, and crate seats, my students will be able to have a choice in where they work best. This will help the students take ownership of the way they learn and set them up for success!
Flexible seating options will help my students learn how to be successful in any classroom setting, with or without flexible seating.
Flexible seating will be used every day in our classroom. Throughout our day, the students will have opportunities to choose where they sit and work. Flexible seating helps increase independence, problem solving skills, and helps students develop skills to realize their needs and accommodate for them. Flexible seating can also help students develop a sense of community in our classroom by the realizing that everyone needs different things to be successful, and that's okay!!
The choices my students have in our classroom will not only help them be successful in Kindergarten, but also through and beyond their years of school.
