My Project
My students are energetic, curious, and full of joy! I teach kindergarten in a Title I school, where many students come to school eager to learn but often without access to the resources that help develop their minds and bodies. They thrive when movement and play are part of our learning day, and I’m always looking for ways to engage all learners, especially those who benefit from hands-on and kinesthetic activities. Sports and exercise equipment will help keep them moving while they learn, with a combination of physical education tools and hands-on literacy games!
This project helps meet the needs of all learners, especially those who learn best by doing.
I’m requesting a variety of materials that promote both physical development and early literacy/numeracy skills. Juggling scarves, parachutes, and plastic hoops will support gross motor coordination, teamwork, and confidence. A mini golf set and soft foam crossbars will build balance, spatial awareness, and focus. Items like fine motor clip sets, letter bean bags, and storytelling props will reinforce literacy and math concepts through active, sensory-rich play. With these resources, I’ll be able to design playful, standards-based lessons that are engaging and meaningful, both indoors and out.
Kindergarteners need to move, and research shows that physical activity supports cognitive growth, memory, and emotional regulation. These materials will help me create an inclusive and joyful classroom where every student has the chance to learn through movement, imagination, and collaboration.
