My Students

Developmental Kindergarten is such a unique classroom. My room is filled every morning with smiling faces that are eager to learn. My school is in a metropolitan area where there is a high poverty level. My school is a Title I school, as well as offering universal free breakfast, lunch and snack for each student every day.

With this being my first year of teaching, I am so incredibly lucky to have such a curious, hard-working and accepting group of students.

My 25 students all bring a new experience or point of view to the conversation. My students make each day new and exciting and are ready to take on any challenge as soon as they walk in the room.

My students LOVE flexible seating. They love to sing and dance to anything, especially Jack Hartman! These kids come in every day and give it their all. The range of skill level varies throughout the room with it being an inclusion kindergarten classroom. But my students are always willing to help each other out when ever they can. I am so lucky to have a class that all genuinely loves to be around each other and all get along.

My Project

My students are constantly on the move. Having different sensory seating options will help my students stay in their area and complete their work without constant reminders from the teacher. My students all love the opportunity to sit in our one wobble stool that we currently have, but one chair cannot be used by all 25 students in one day.

Having multiple seating options will help my students to be able to work in a more preferred environment, helping make their transition to loving school move smoother.

My students bring a constant smile to my face each and every day. I want to do whatever I can to help them transition to love learning as much and I do. Providing my students with flexible seating options that allow them to wiggle and move while still staying in their seats and doing their work would do amazing things for my students, especially since they are all transitioning from playing at home all the time, to having to sit in a classroom with 24 other students.

My students and I would be so grateful to receive these items for our classroom and they would help my current class, and all my classes to come.
