Moving for Money Part 2

My Students

Our focus this year has been making sure we are safe, in control of our bodies, and having fun learning what we need. I have 23 wonderful second graders who love to move and learn. Our school is located northwest of Detroit and my students come from a variety of backgrounds, academic ability, and home support. I would love it if they were able to be in control and have a choice of where they sit to learn. The students have helped me pick these seats out by trying them out and the students would love to be able to use them this school year!

My Project

Our focus this year has been working on controlling our bodies and making sure we are safe. We've been working on telling others if our body doesn't feel safe or in control. These Wobble Cushions, Wobble Chairs, and cozy dog beds would really help my students with attention and sensory needs, especially during our math lessons while using money to figure out our problems. This will give all students another tool to help them with their goal of staying safe and in control. The students would benefit from having the choices of where to sit during math time. This would increase their focus and attention during math and small group time. They would get to pick their seat and use it as long as they needed while using their money to help them learn running totals in math. My students would be able to apply the money skills I teach them today to their life now and each day in their future.
