Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students speak six languages and represent six countries! My students are curious, energetic, and they love learning.

My students spend their day learning in both English and Spanish.

We are a low income, dual language community school, where everyone knows each other. They have built such a close community and really help one another grow as friends and learners. They do not always have all of the resources they need at home, but they care so much about learning.

My Project

We are a school using trauma informed practices to meet the needs of our students. Many of my students have experienced trauma in their five to six years of life and need different tools to meet their different needs!

Having the ability to move while they learn, and not be stuck in a normal chair can make all the difference in a student’s attention span and focus on learning.

Having flexible seating options, including ball chairs, allows certain students to learn in an environment that is more approptiate to their needs. Also, for my tactile learners, having something to do with their hands can help therapeutic calming down when they need a break as well as increase fine motor skills!
