Moving and Learning in 3rd Grade - Part 2

Help me give my students a choice of which type of seat to use in class, wobble chairs, Fidget bands and Lap Desk and Laptop Stand which will empower my students to take charge of their learning.

My Students

Meet the Bobcats, where the students come to school each day ready for fun and learning! This is the age where the kids are so excited to come to school and have a thirst for knowledge.

I have an amazing class of third graders that are diverse with many different backgrounds and learning styles.

Every child is unique, but something that they all have in common is their enthusiasm and love for learning. During a typical day, some kids are standing while working, some are laying on the floor, and some are quietly sitting. I want my students to feel empowered to make choices in the classroom. One thing I can offer them is a choice with their seating. These choices within the classroom fuel their confidence and creativity. I love my students and want to provide the best and most effective learning environment for them!

My Project

Sitting still for a long period of time is difficult for anyone, but it's especially difficult for children. Research shows that children learn better when they are moving. Moving your body keeps you healthy and boosts your brain power!

Providing my students with a variety of comfortable seating options in the classroom will enhance their engagement and their learning.

We have recently began our flexible seating journey and now we know which types of seats we like best. This project will complete our classroom flexible seating so that there are enough seating choices for each student. The wobble stools will benefit students who do not fit comfortably in our standard classroom chairs and give them the flexibility of movement while they are learning. The bouncy bands for desks will give students who like to fidget an outlet for their energy while not distracting their peers. The portable lap desks will give students multiple options for their learning, such as standing up while doing work, or sitting on the floor to complete assignments. By giving my students seating choices and keeping them engaged through movement, they will be more successful in school.
