This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a Diverse Learning teacher, I get the privilege of working with a wide range of students throughout the building. I get to see their excitement with multiple light bulb moments. I see their dedication to their education and most importantly, the hard work they put in everyday.
My students are energetic, amazed by the world, and oh so curious to learn more everyday.
While we work together, my students have learned to treat each other with kindness and use teamwork as motivation to reach new levels!
My Project
As I start my 3rd year teaching in Chicago, I want to set up a space that is catered to my students, some of the most vulnerable, so they can feel successful. With wobble stools, floor seating, and mobile desks, we will create a space that is as diverse and adaptable as they are, I want to show students that they are encouraged to learn in new and different ways. Students should be allowed to sit how they learn, these are the furniture options they need to succeed!
Together, as a team, we will hit new goals, learn collaboration skills, and most importantly, be kids!
Students will get to explore new senses with bright colors, textures, and movement options with these new supplies.
Creating a "flex seating" classroom will show my students that in this space they are safe to explore and take risks. They are encouraged to learn, ask questions, and experience the world around them.
