This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bright, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. They are students from a low income community who get so enthralled with stories they groan at the end of our read aloud. My students are becoming great, strong readers and are on their way to becoming life long readers.

My students are one of the brightest group of students I have ever taught.

They challenged me every day to become a better teacher by forcing me to think of new ways to present lessons and think outside of the box. They are bright, eager, patient and ready to learn.

My Project

The rug, stability ball and portable desk will give my fifth graders opportunities to move around the classroom, both high and low. This would help them focus and get energy out at the same time. The materials would allow them to move about the classroom.

Contrary to popular belief, 5th graders need to move around just as much as children in kindergarten!

When students have the opportunity to be active, even with small things such as tapping or jiggling their foot, their ability to concentrate increases! Allowing students to select their seat promotes student engagement and provides a welcoming classroom for them.
