My Project

My students need the ability to move around at their desks without distracting the rest of their classmates. Education is changing and the things that we expect first graders to know continue to grow. My students love to move around while they work but we currently don't have enough materials to allow all students this opportunity.

This last year the kindergarten cutoff day changed in our state, which means that some students will enter first grade at five years old.

Although this might not initially seem like a big difference, this gap is large in the development of young students. This will make it more difficult for students to sit and learn for extended periods of time. Having foot bands, cushions, and a wobble seat to allow for movement at their desks will help meet these students where they are and provide them with the materials they need to be successful first graders.
