My students need assistance with movement to music. Poly spots and movement scarves help students 'see' what they hear and feel.

My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching in a school of 500 K-6 and Autistic Support Students. They are a highly diverse group from many different cultures, religions, and economic backgrounds.
These kids are creative and highly engaged in musical activities.
They love the freedom that music class gives them to express themselves through movement, dance, singing and playing instruments.
Many students speak English as their second language or are non verbal. Movement in music gives words to those who might not be able to express themselves.
My Project
My students love to move in music class! Movement is energizing, stimulates the brain, and creates fast access to music concepts.
Scarves are used to visualize melody, pitch, rhythm, beat, dynamics, tempo and to 'paint' musical pictures.
Imagine a room full of children swirling and tossing scarves creatively! Poly spots give every student their own special space in which to move and the freedom to choose their own area in the classroom.
Some of our favorite dances are The Chicken Dance, Purple People Eater and The Monster Mash. We also love 'painting' to Puff the Magic Dragon and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
