Movement Indoors for Special Needs

Help me give my students the opportunity to have movement inside on a rainy day. My students have special needs and require frequent movement breaks. There is also flexible seating to offer the kids a variety of options.

My Students

I teach a mild/moderate special day class. Many of my students' families are low income. My students do not come to school with supplies or food. Half of my students are living with autism, the other half have a specific learning disorder, and 1 with an orthopedic disability.

The kids love to learn and move around the classroom.

I have students at varying levels of ability, but they all work together and try to help each other. Many of the students have been moved around from school to school.

My Project

On a rainy day kids need to have movement and play. These items will allow my students to have play time while indoors and get the needed movement they need to be successful throughout the day. The kids can practice balance, play catch, and go bowling.

Flexible seating allows the kids to have opportunities to get up and move and alternate seating arrangements.

They are more engaged in completing work when they are comfortable. Seating options make learning fun for different centers in the classroom.

Many of my students come from low income families and can use these items to brighten their day.
