My Students

If I were paid $1 for every time I remind a student to stop tipping in their chair or said that they should have "four on the floor", I might be a millionaire!

Many of my 8th graders are very active.

They love when our class activities involve being up out of their seats and even out of the classroom. The kinesthetic learners thrive off movement. Those with diagnosed ADHD are constantly fidgeting, be it tapping on the desk or tipping in their chairs or moving in their seats.

My Project

With these four Hokki stools, in addition to the three we already have, learners who benefit from movement will have the option to wiggle in their seat and add physical activity into their work. A Hokki stool is such a safe alternative to students tipping in their chairs and I don't have to worry about their precious brains on my floor from a head being split open.

Another school I worked in had some hokki stools and the students with ADHD loved them.

They focused better and had a positive outlet for energy rather than being nagged to sit still, stop leaning in their chairs and stop tapping on the desk. It helps the students that need it, and contributes to a better overall classroom environment to remove the distracting behaviors.
